birthday!

This Wednesday, September 30, marks the one-year anniversary of Dovecote! Whew… It’s been a pretty good haul so far, wouldn’t you say? Check back on Wednesday for a little extra something to celebrate :)

Now to business: shirts! I was pretty blown away by the number of responses. Tallying it up, it looks like the button shirt got the most votes; the rest were split between the first and second designs. To move forward on that last shirt, here are some more detailed mockups, in two styles. Time for more voting? Yes I think so. As for the others, I’d love to take the suggestion of a combo, but I also want to keep the cost down. Right now I’d approximate the prices this way:
-One-side shirt: $15
-Two-side shirt: $19
-Button shirt: $21
The minimum order to keep the prices at that level would be 25 shirts for any given design. This week I’ll get that finalized and start taking preorders.

Hmm, what else? I’m sure there was something… Ah! There are a few little updates on the extras page. Check it out! :)

Augh! Those are so cute! I don’t even know…wow, I’m useless. I guess I like them both evenly.

  2. Alex says:

I think I’m generally in favour of the first one…but they’re both fantastic!

  3. gingerbread says:

Have you looked into setting up a Cafepress store?

  4. open.window says:

1st one is my favorite!!! :D It looks amazing.

  5. Hilary says:

I like the first one better, I think, although I love them both. :)

  6. Sophia says:

Both are awesome, but I love the first one :) Have you thought about a Cafepress or a Spreadshirt shop? It might make it easier for you, and you could even offer both designs. Just a thought.

  7. Reen says:

I…I want them both. But if I had to choose, Lee’s back porch uniform.

  8. Wynne says:

    Lee! Yee!

  9. HMF says:

#1, but both are pretty awesome.
I love this comic, but I never dreamed there would be T-shirts!

  10. Laurie says:

Definitely Lee’s version. The style is way more fun!

  11. Kristen says:

The first one, definitely! It’s so cute!! Would either design be available in both colors? or just one?

  12. Felicity says:

    Lee’s Back Porch Uniform! Yay!

  13. Claire says:

Lee’s Back Porch! It’s the most amazing t-shirt I’ve ever seen! (Plus, you know, blue’s better…)

  14. Bernice says:

    Definitely Lee’s Back Porch.

  15. Eric from Comic Dish says:

There is one thing to consider concerning shirts: If you are going to a traditional screen printer to have these done, a full front/back design will not be available. You would need someone who could print on the material first and then assemble the shirt afterwards. There are venues out there for the print-and-assemble variety, I just don’t know who they are.

All the designs are wonderful, although the Lee shirt is more appealing to my eye. Of course, I could just be one of them dang Yankees!

    • Bridget says:

I’ll actually be screen printing it myself – I’ve done shirt printing in the past, and know my way around the process a bit. Thank you for the tip, though!

  16. Hope says:

I love both but I think I like the first one more.

  17. mason010 says:

Definatly the First one!! Lee’s Uniform!!!

  18. Redd says:

The first one. They’re both amazing, but I have to go with that one. (:

  19. Jade says:

    The blue one definately!

  20. Kristy says:

    Lee’s!

  21. Sean says:

Why is everyone going for the first one? Can’t the second one have some love? :( I vote for the second one! :D

By the way, I think that the first one will look better on girls because of the positioning of the flaps, but the second one would be better for a boys’ torso. Being a boy, I VOTE FOR THE SECOND ONE!

  22. Lindsey says:

I would buy the first shirt in an instant! Happy Birthday, Dovecote!

  23. Malachi says:

Uhhh, the first one. I am very much excited.

  24. Elizabeth says:

I think the Shell Jacket looks better. I will wait to purchase a shirt when there is one of the other designs. Something that more clearly suports DC.

  25. Meg says:

wow. those shirts are made of awesome. loving the first one especially.

  26. Nina says:

    Lee’s Back Porch.

  27. Jamie says:

I prefer the second one, personally! :D Aww. They’re both cute, though.

  28. Laura says:

OH GOD I LOVE THE MOCK UPS AND WOULD TOTALLY BUY ONE. Yankee, of course. Can’t betray my Northern sympathies.

  29. Ruby says:

hard! back porch is kind of busy, but i think it reads better than the shell jacket. that is, to someone not of dovecote crest. that in mind, it would be a nice inside sort of thing…i’m going to go with the second.

  30. WolfSinger says:

Voting seems to lean heavily toward Lee’s shirt xD Though, looking them over (and also seeing Elizabeth’s comment) will there be something on the shirts that marks it as clearly supporting Dovecote? Maybe a logo where the breast pocket would be located (perhaps the crossed guns and ‘initials’?), or something on the side. I absolutely adore the designs (each for unique reasons) but I too want something clearly supporting the Crest ;3
